In November 2016, Withers Broadcasting Company of Illinois pared down its assets by agreeing to sell 1kw day/85 watt night WROY-AM 1460 and 50kw WRUL-FM 97.3 in Carmi, Ill., and translator W229AU at 93.7 MHz in Fairfield, Ill., to Mark and Saundra Lange’s The Original Company Inc. for $390,000.
Now, Withers has rung up another sale, and has again used Patrick Communications as its exclusive broker in this transaction.
This deal, valued at $400,000, sees Withers divest Class A WZZT-FM 102.7 in Morrison; and Class C WSDR-AM 1240 and Class A WSSQ-FM 94.3 in Sterling, Ill., to Virden Broadcasting Co.
Virden is led by President Fletcher Ford, and the company will assume control of the stations via an LMA prior to closing.

- The cash portion of a transaction announced Wednesday that sees Cherry Creek Media swap substantially all the assets of its radio stations serving the Helena, Montana, market to The Montana Radio Company, in exchange for substantially all the assets of three FM translators serving the Great Falls, Montana market; and an FM radio station serving the Butte, Montana market has been revealed. According to a Form 314 filing made with the FCC on Friday (4/7), Cherry Creek will receive from The Montana Radio Company a cash payment of $1.89 million, along with the stations. A $94,500 escrow payment has been made by The Montana Radio Company to its escrow agent, McCoy Media Enterprises.
- A translator serving Birmingham, Ala., has traded hands for an undisclosed price. Valleydale Broadcasting is selling Tarrant, Ala.-licensed W252BE at 98.3 MHz to Shelby Broadcast Associates. The translator rebroadcasts regional Mexican WAYE-AM “La Jefa 1220” in Birmingham.
- For $75,000, Centro Familiar Cristiano is acquiring translator K230BW in Kennewick, Wash., from Xana Oregon LLC. The station covers the Tri-Cities region of southeastern Washington.
