WMUR-9 Lures Back A Sales Vet For DOS Duties

The individual who has just been named to the newly created position of Director of Sales at ABC affiliate WMUR-9 in Manchester, N.H., won’t have much to learn about the local market or the station’s outsized role in the state’s Republican Presidential primaries.

That’s because he served as GSM for a decade before taking a role at Binnie Media’s WBIN-TV.

Returning to WMUR-9 is Gerry McGavick, who will oversee all sales at the station.

McGavick also will work in coordination with WMUR parent Hearst Television and its 30 television stations on the group’s political-advertising sales activities — a role that speaks of WMUR’s importance in presidential races.

Taking his former role, meanwhile, is Mike Taffaro. He was previously LSM at WMUR-9 and will now lead all daily WMUR sales operations.

McGavick and Taffaro each report to WMUR GM Jeff Bartlett. He said, “It is great that we could bring Gerry McGavick back in a new role. His 10 years of experience as general sales manager here will certainly be an asset. Mike and Gerry have worked together here with great success and we’re fortunate to have this outstanding team together again.”
