Looks like “730 WXTR: DC’s Greatest Hits” was just a bit of stunting. A month after Redskins owner Dan Snyder (Red Zebra Broadcasting) created another Sports talker, WSPZ SportTalk 570 (powered by Sporting News Radio and ESPN Radio), he sold his AM 730 (WXTR-AM Alexandria) to Bruce Houston’s Metro Radio. The station had flipped from ESPN Deportes to Oldies–albeit for only about 10 days. Metro then launched Conservative talk WTNT at 730, “The Truth,” taking the WTNT calls from the 570 frequency. The Truth officially launched 10/18, returning TRN’s America’s Morning News, Laura Ingraham, Michael Savage, Jerry Doyle, Rusty Humphries, Roy Masters and Phil Hendrie to the DC dial.

Says Mark Masters, CEO, Talk Radio Network: “It is an honor and a privilege to be on such a powerful signal as the new 730 AM ‘The Truth’ WTNT in the Nation’s Capital.  We are excited to work with the entire 730 AM WTNT team in this exciting launch – the marketplace of ideas will be all the richer for it – more light, less heat, that’s what ‘The Truth’ 730 AM WTNT will be all about.”
