XAPPmedia announced the launch of a proprietary technology and end-to-end mobile advertising service for Internet radio publishers and advertisers, XAPP Ads. XAPP Ads are billed as “hands free, eyes free, voice activated ads that provide a new solution for monetizing the growing Internet radio and mobile audio audiences.”
NPR will be the first publisher to make XAPPmedia’s interactive audio technology available to underwriters and sponsors with Lumber Liquidators as its launch sponsor.
XAPP Ads provide consumers a choice to connect directly with brands through the convenience of voice when offers are relevant and quickly get back to listening when they are not. XAPP Ads drive instant conversions for advertisers and increase ad inventory yield for audio publishers.
“We launched XAPPmedia to provide a better interactive audio experience for consumers, publishers and advertisers. Our first product, XAPP Ads, makes it easy for publishers and advertisers to connect offers directly with the rapidly growing audience of mobile audio consumers,” said XAPPmedia CEO Pat Higbie. “Our value proposition is pretty simple. Audio publishers need their ad inventory to generate more revenue while maintaining a great user experience. XAPP Ads leverage mobile, cloud and voice technologies to deliver choice for consumers, engagement and conversion for advertisers, and increase ad rates for audio app publishers.”
RBR-TVBR asked Higbie: How is ad effectiveness and awareness is increased by the XAPP Ads platform?: “When driving, walking or exercising, it is difficult to respond to a radio commercial that is intended to generate phone calls. If interested in the offer, you need to memorize the phone number, and then remember the ad at some later time when it is safe to use your phone, and then dial the number. In addition, the ad itself typically repeats the phone number three times, which is annoying and uses 10 seconds of precious creative. XAPP Ads increases effectiveness, because they are simple, spontaneous and convenient — in this case if you like the offer, you just say ‘CALL NOW’. They increase awareness because the creative is dedicated to the advertiser’s message and the listener is prompted to act immediately.”

XAPP Ads can be created in minutes by publishers or advertisers through a cloud-hosted point-and-click interface with no programming required. XAPP Ads leverage traditional advertising audio creative, which makes them more cost effective to build than other digital rich media advertisements. They can also be paired with on-screen tiles, but the key focus is allowing consumers to respond to audio advertising by voice. Many options are provided for connecting consumers to brand offers including voice activated actions such as:
• Call Now
• More Info
• Download App
• Buy It
• Send email
• Send coupon
