Satellite Radio provider XM Canada has shut down its XM Radio Online (XMRO) service. XMRO was a free-to-subscribers streaming music service that allowed XM Canada subscribers to listen to their favorite satellite radio stations on the web or on their smartphone.

On its website, XM Canada says it is cancelling the XMRO service to better serve its customers. However, on the same page XM tells customers they can’t have XMRO anymore, XM solicits subscribers to sign up for it higher bitrate XM online+ service.

XM Online+ costs between $2.99 and $7.99 a month.

Sirius Canada still offers its higher bitrate Sirius Online music service at no additional charge, reports Canada’s DigitalHome.
