NRG Media’s Omaha Sports talker is enhancing its presence in the market 2/1 from a partnership with FOX Sports Network. Neil Nelkin, KOZN PD, said after 20-years with the ESPN brand it was time for a new alliance to maintain the station’s market edge and the decision to part ways with ESPN was necessary to more effectively deliver the sports content demanded by the ZONE’s primarily male listenership: “We have a lion share of the male listeners in the Omaha market and we always believe it is best to make a change while you’re on top vs. the alternative. The power of the ZONE has been unmatched and it’s meant to stay that way with the advent of this alliance.”

Fox Sports’ “The Jim Rome Show” will be sandwiched between two locally produced and generated programs “Schick and Nick” in mornings and “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” in afternoon drive. In addition to Jim Rome, “Zakk and Jack,” who joined the FOX Sports lineup at the first of the year, will be kicking off the ZONE’s weekday programming with their morning show from 5a-8a.
