52.4 million watched first Obama-McCain face-off

The Nielsen Company reports that the first debate between Presidential candidates Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Friday September 26th drew an audience of 52,418,000 viewers spread across 11 television networks. The debate ran from approximately 9:00 to 10:45 pm (ET) and was carried live on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Telefutura, Telemundo, BBC-America, CNBC, CNN, FOX News Channel, and MSNBC.
