CCME’s KQBT-FM 93.7 The Beat, Houston’s REAL Hip Hop and R&B, announced Mara Melendez has been named the station’s first PD. She most recently programmed 103.5 The Beat (WMIB-FM) in Miami after being part of the team that launched Power 105.1 WWPR-FM NYC.

93.7 The Beat features the nationally syndicated morning show The Breakfast Club from 5-9:00 a.m. with DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God. The show is known for being candid and asking tough questions to artists. Listeners will love the shows staples that include Angela’s ‘Rumor Report,’ Charlamagne’s ‘Donkey of the Day’ and DJ Envy’s ‘Daily People’s Choice Mix’ at 8 a.m. each morning.
–UB Rodriquez takes over from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Rodriguez comes from a journalism background and legendary radio stations in the country, bringing with him enthusiasm and extensive knowledge of the industry and its lifestyle. He started his career in Miami and also worked in San Francisco, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. He has interviewed and rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names in the business including Jay-Z, TI, Common, Nicki Minaj, Mike Tyson, Drake, Jeremih, Queen Latifah and more.
–Rudy Rush gets Houston through the afternoon and on the drive home from 2-6:00 p.m. As a professional comedian he toured colleges and clubs, becoming the youngest host of the longest-running African-American syndicated show, Showtime at the Apollo. Rush has worked on major projects with Dave Chappelle and Martin Lawrence, while also appearing on shows such as Def Comedy Jam, Jamie Foxx’s Laff-A-Palooza and Premium Blend. He has also been featured in his own half-hour special on Comedy Central and was the comedic force on the long-running, nationally syndicated radio show, The Doug Banks Morning Show.
–Evenings feature Devi Dev, a familiar voice in Houston, from 6-10:00 p.m. She previously hosted the No. 1 mid-day radio show in Houston as well as mid-days at KDAY in Los Angeles. In New York, Dev worked with the MTV Network as a TV host for ‘Hip Hop PO,’ contributed as a music commentator for “Yo! MTV Raps” and co-hosted on “Sway in the Morning” on Sirius XM. The Beat Between the Sheets airs evenings from 10 p.m.-2 a.m., featuring Chris Michaels who has hosted Whispers in the Dark on Chicago’s WGCI.
