Clear Channel’s 96.5 KISS FM Cleveland has launched “The Takeover,” a new feature where listeners program the music on the radio station weekdays from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. via voting on kisscleveland.com.

Offering control and instant gratification for listeners, Listener Driven Radio’s LDR.Takeover breaks new ground for the radio industry, while bring back the request line power of the past. Takeover allows the audience to pick songs that play through the show. Listeners vote from a playlist and can affect the radio station’s music in real-time. They can begin voting 15 minutes prior to the 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. hours.

“It’s exciting to watch the songs jump around in real-time on the website as people vote them up and down, ultimately picking what will hit the air next,” said Bo Matthews, PD for 96.5 KISS FM. “In this techno-age, people want everything custom and catered to their likes and tastes — and they want it now. It’s imperative that we harness the technology and evolve, to allow listeners to play a role in molding what we are as a radio station.”
