A Big Boost In Hosted Streaming Delivery Rights

A rapidly growing app-based Pay TV video streaming platform has just secured hosted streaming delivery rights from some 90 networks — bringing its total to more than 350 networks.

The Thursday announcement from Emeryville, Calif.-based MOBITV means such networks as Bloomberg Television, Discovery, MGM HD, Newsmax, Outside TV, Smithsonian Channel, Stingray Music and Univision are now linked with the multi-tenant video delivery provider, which has made its mark in 2018 by working primarily with small MVPDs.

The new network additions comes roughly three months after MOBITV locked in access to such offerings as C-SPAN Networks, Disney and ESPN Media Networks, Fox Networks, Fuse Media Networks, Hallmark Channel, Game Show Network, NBCUniversal cable networks, Pac-12 Networks, REELZ, REVOLT, SHOWTIME, Outdoor Channel, The Weather Channel, and Viacom-owned networks.

For MOBITV, the new additions “propel” its MOBITV CONNECT managed service by helping operators go to market faster with “a cost-effective model that doesn’t require material capital outlays or an upgrade to traditional headend infrastructure.”

With the new additions, MOBITV is able to deploy nearly every channel on a local MVPD lineup on a managed service solution basis.

“The content community continues to support the MOBITV managed service offering and we continue to sign more operators as a result,” MOBITV CEO Charlie Nooney said. “Feedback continues to be that our platform provides viewers a great experience and allows operators the ability to maintain a competitive edge in the market in a cost-effective manner to their Pay TV and broadband subscriber base. Adding more networks has put us in the lead within the marketplace, as we now have almost all possible channels within the cable lineup and continue to grow what we believe is giving us a competitive lead.”

Univision SVP/Product & Technology Scott Levine commented, “Working with MOBITV helps Univision move closer to its vision, by enabling our partners – and our collective audiences – access to Univision’s programming everywhere they want.”

MOBITV has signed more than 61 Pay TV operators to its signature platform.

Among the companies now working with MOBITV are All West Communications, Arvig, ATMC (Atlantic Telephone Membership Corporation), Dalton Utilities/OptiLink, Elevate Fiber, Fidelity Communications, Greenlight Community Broadband, MetroNet, Nex-Tech, Nortex Communications, RiverStreet Networks, and USA Communications.
