A Big Island’s ESPN Twins Find God

MAKAWAO, HI — The island of Hawai’i, known as the “Big Island” to mainlanders, is effectively split by both Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. As a result, most of the radio stations found on Hawai’i are simulcast, with signals originating in Kona, on the leeward side, and Hilo, on the windward side.

Among the many stations simulcasting on the Big Island are a pair of AMs that have served as the local ESPN Radio affiliate. These stations are now being donated by the Chuck Bergson-led Pacific Media Group, and the recipient is a religious non-profit based in the Aloha State.
