A Dance ‘Revolution’ In SoFla To Spread To Palm Beaches

BOCA RATON, FLA. — What began as a tiny FM translator serving downtown Miami and points south and west is set to expand to a regional monster.

Don’t run … just dance and enjoy the Revolution.

In an article appearing at WPTV-5’s website noting the previously announced arrival of veteran air personality Joe Raineri as its new morning host, South Florida’s EDM station — WZFL-FM 93.5 in Islamorada and WHYI-HD2 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale, known as “Revolution 935,” is set to expand to the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton market.

According to WPTV, Revolution owner Anco Media Group is acquring WBGF-FM 93.5 in Belle Glade, Fla., from JVC Broadcasting for an undisclosed price, resulting in a near seamless integration of WBGF’s Class C3 signal with WZFL’s Class C2 signal — and two highly important translators W228BY in Miami and W228BV in Miramar, Fla., respectively.

The addition of WBGF puts “Revolution 935” on par with a 50kw station in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market, many of which can be heard across Palm Beach County’s southern half.

New studios for Revolution 935 are set to open in the trendy Wynwood neighborhood of Miami to usher in Raineri’s arrival. He was most recently at Sports Talk WMEN-FM 640 in West Palm Beach.

WPTV reports that the “True Oldies Channel” programming presently heard on WBGF will remain on W223CJ, at 92.5 MHz in West Palm Beach. This translator covers a small portion of the market, from Lake Worth north to Jupiter, Fla.

However, John Caracciolo, who heads JVC, tells RBR+TVBR that the True Oldies Channel will not remain on the 92.5 MHz translator.

He did not elaborate in an email late Friday.
