A Mild Thursday For Media Stocks

U.S. financial markets experienced a rather tepid trading session on Thursday, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 12.74, to 21,397.29, and Nasdaq inched ahead 2.73, to 6,236.69.


Among the highlights in the media sector was another move in the right direction for Pandora Media. The streaming audio company’s shares were up 3.9%, to $7.80, to continue a week-long rebound for the company getting a $480 million injection in a two-part stock acquisition by Sirius XM.

Elsewhere, iHeartMedia shares were off 5.6%, to $1.70, while Beasley Broadcasting Group shares dipped 2.8%, to $9.40.

Nielsen slipped 0.24%, to $37.14, on word that the company will release its Q2 2017 results on Thursdsay, July 27, prior to the Opening Bell on Wall Street.
