A ‘Power Sound’ Returns, After Breaking The Rules

Until October 1, 2019, a Class D AM serving the Roanoke market offered listeners across southwestern Virginia a mix of Urban Adult Contemporary and gospel music as “Power Sound 1480.”

At that time, the station’s call letters were deleted, as the licensee failed to file a timely license renewal application. Yet, the station continued to operate.

This has resulted in a Notice of Apparent Liability and a proposed fine. But, the Media Bureau is granted the renewal application — albeit, for a shorter-than-normal term.
