An FM translator in a small town near Valparaiso, Ind., has just been sold by a broadcaster formerly known as Friends of Christian Radio Inc.

The buyer is acquiring the facility to bring some “AM revitalization” to a Michigan City facility.

For a purchase price of $12,500, FCR Broadcasting is selling W248AP, to be built at 97.5 MHz in Chesterton, Ind.

The buyer is Larry Langford, who has made a $4,375 deposit. At closing, a $1,875 payment is due. Starting March 1, 24 monthly installments of $274.20 will be made with interest accruing at 5%.

Beth Griffin of Griffin Media Partners served as the exclusive broker in this transaction, representing the seller.

W248AP will be used to rebroadcast WIMS-AM 1420 in Michigan City, Ind. The facility broadcasts with 5kw of power from 2 towers during daylight hours and 5 towers at night. Its signal reaches much of metropolitan Chicago and South Bend, Ind. and brands itself as “The Talk of the South Shore.”
