DAYTON — In January, Sinclair Broadcast Group named a new Director of Sales for its three TV stations in Columbus, Ohio. Just nine months later, Sinclair has given birth to a new position for this company vet: oversight for the company’s Dayton operation some 90 minutes to the west.

James Grilli has been promoted to GM of ABC affiliate WKEF-22 in Dayton. He’ll also manage Sinclair’s Time Brokerage Agreement for FOX-affiliated WRGT-45, licensed to Cunningham Broadcasting.

WRGT is the more dominant of the two stations, and news on WKEF is branded as “FOX 45 News On ABC 22.”

In making the announcement, Sinclair Television Group EVP/COO Steve Marks said, “Jimmy has been with Sinclair in Columbus for 14 years in a variety of sales roles, from account executive working his way up to Director of Sales. His sales and management experience will benefit the Dayton stations and provide for a smooth continuity in leadership and operations.”

Grilli added, “I look forward to working with the talented staff that is committed to providing its audience the highest quality in news and information, across all platforms, and helping our advertising partners grow their businesses through our on-air and digital solutions.”

From 2014 through the end of 2016, Grilli serve as GSM of FOX-affiliated WTTE-28 in Columbus. He joined Sinclair in January 2002 as an AE, and began his career in 2000 at Viacom, in a similar role.
