A ‘Smile’ Delivered: A Mitten State Class A Noncomm

NORTHVILLE, MICH. — Travel to the northwest of Lansing, and you’ll reach the city of Hubbardston. Here, a Class A FM recently signed on the air.

Now, it is trading hands, some nine months after an agreement had initially been reached.

A one-page consent of transfer of control of WSJH-FM 103.7 was agreed upon in July 2019, but not filed with the Commission until Tuesday (4/14).

It sees the noncomm being dealt to Smile FM, led by Edward Czelada, for $1,500.

The seller is Hubbardston Community Radio.

Smile FM is the licensee of a host of radio stations across Michigan, including WHYT.

No, it’s not the old “Power 96,” which you would have heard today in 1987 if you were in Detroit. Rather, those call letters represent one of several stations that comprise the “Smile FM — Michigan’s Positive Hits.”

And, that’s what WSJH will be airing.

The transaction further establishes Smile FM as a Michigan-wide operation.
