A YouTubeTV Outage Frustrates Local Television Viewers

On Thursday, March 17, the Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball team exited “March Madness” with their 82-53 loss to Saint Mary’s, the “Cinderella” school of this year’s NCAA collegiate hoops tournament.

Jim Dennis, a 78-year-old retired broadcast media sales and marketing figure who is now retired, would have loved to see the game, even though Indiana lost. Unfortunately, his local CBS affiliate, Nexstar Media Group-owned WANE-15, “went on the fritz” last week.

Dennis wasn’t alone. YouTube TV is still working through a technical issue that has impacted its DISH-delivered local television service in such markets as Fort Wayne, Ind., and Youngstown, Ohio.

As of 2:30pm Eastern Tuesday, the problem appears to be resolved, ending a six-day struggle. Then, at least in Northeast Indiana, it went on the blink again.
