The American Automobile Association says major attention to the nation’s infrastructure, including updated highways and repaired and replaced bridges, is long overdue, and is welcoming president-elect Barack Obama’s plan to make it a cornerstone of his economic recovery plan.
RBR/TVBR observation: Local radio should be welcoming this just as loudly. Major highway and bridge construction will make traffic much worse before it gets better, and will place a renewed premium on frequent traffic reports, not only during morning and afternoon drive, but around the clock as well. A massive infrastructure project could be a major shot in the arm for stations with an effective traffic team in place.
