The man who has served as SVP/Sales for iHeartMedia’s Washington, D.C. stations is heading up I-95 to take the company’s top job in Charm City.

Effective immediately, 19-year media veteran Aaron Hyland is now Market President of iHeartMedia’s Baltimore station group.

The company’s stations in Baltimore are comprised of longtime Country leader WPOC-FM 93.1, CHR/Pop WZFT-FM 104.3, “Jack FM” WQSR-FM 102.7, and Gospel WCAO-AM 600.

While Hyland will be responsible for overseeing the Baltimore market’s programming, advertising and operations across its multiple platforms, he will be taking the MARC train to Union Station and heading to Tenleytown on the Red Line often; Hyland will continue to oversee sales for the Washington, D.C. Region as a Regional SVP.

Hyland will continue to report into iHeartMedia Region President Michael Preacher.

“We’re thrilled Aaron will be leading our Baltimore team, working closely with our key advertisers and partners on developing effective opportunities to reach their consumers through our unmatched assets,” said Preacher.  “Aaron has built a very positive and successful culture for iHeartMedia in Washington, and I’m excited that he will now be leading all aspects of Baltimore’s operations.  His experience and familiarity in Baltimore make him the perfect choice.”

Hyland has been in the National Capital Region for iHeart since 2013. He began his career in radio as an LSM for iHeart’s Albany-Schenectady-Troy stations WHRL-FM, WPYX-FM and WTRY-FM. In 2004, he was elevated to GSM of the cluster’s WKKF-FM & WRVE-FM, spending two years in that role.

Hyland then moved to St. Louis, where he eventually rose to VP/Sales. He exited iHeart (then Clear Channel) in May 2011, and joined Cumulus Media as VP/Market Manager of its Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Fla., stations for a six-month period. From there, he packed his bags and headed to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where he served for two years (May 2011-May 2013) as Cumulus’ VP/Market Manager overseeing its Hudson Valley stations, which include Middletown-Newburgh, N.Y. properties.

“iHeartMedia Baltimore has a strong presence in the market and throughout the community, with an amazing programming lineup including the Laurie DeYoung Show and the Kane Show,” said Hyland. “I’m excited to be joining this solid team here and having the opportunity to further grow these incredible brands.”
