ABC: No, we were first!

ABC News Radio tells us Fox News Radio didn’t actually score a first in Internet transmission during a Bush visit. (2/21/08 RBR #36).

Here’s what they’ve told us: “Three years ago, in 2005, ABC News Radio used IP equipment to broadcast live audio over the Internet to radio pool members. A President Bush trip to Meinz, Germany in February of 2005 was the first time a network radio pool used this technology. ABC News Radio was the pool at that time. ABC News Radio also used the same technology at the APEC Forum in Busan, South Korea in November of 2005. In the three years since these broadcasts, the use of IP technology is becoming more commonplace, yielding cost effective results both domestically and globally.”
