ABC scored well in women demos

Monday: With The Bachelorette and Mistresses, ABC defeated NBC’s original line-up (American Ninja Warrior/Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls/Siberia) in both Total Viewers (+47%) and Adults 18-49 (+23%).  In addition, ABC ranked #1 among key Women demos (W18-49/W25-54). The Bachelorette beat NBC’s unscripted combo (American Ninja Warrior/Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls) by 2.0 million viewers and by 20% in Adults 18-49.  In addition, The Bachelorette stood as Monday’s­ #2 TV series in Total Viewers, behind only CBS’ Under the Dome. At 10pm, ABC’s Mistresses outdelivered its freshman drama competition on NBC (Siberia) by 1.1 million viewers and by 25% in Adults 18-49.  In addition, Mistresses improved on ABC’s performance on the year-ago night by double-digits in both overall viewers (+52%) and young adults (+25%).


Tuesday: ABC’s Extreme Weight Loss scored its most-watched telecast in 3 weeks – since 6/25/13. Despite airing against NBC’s America’s Got Talent in the 9pm hour and Fox’s MLB All-Star Game, Extreme Weight Loss grew from its first hour to its second hour by 10% in Adults 18-49.

Wednesday: ABC’s The Lookout grew its overall audience week to week (+3%) and scored double-digit gains over the prior week in Adults 18-49 (+14%) and Adults 25-54 (+20%), marking its best performance in 3 weeks in both Adult demos – since 6/26/13.

Thursday: At 8pm, ABC’s Wipeout grew week to week by 10% in Total Viewers and by 10% in Adults 18-49 to deliver its best performance since the end of May – since 5/30/13. In addition, the ABC unscripted series shot up by 33% in Adults 18-34 to match a summer high. Wipeout improved over original programming on the year-ago night (Duets) by 10% in Adults 18-49. From 9-10pm, ABC’s Motive drew a larger overall audience than NBC’s The Winner Is for the 2nd week in a row (+15%). At 10 o’clock, ABC’s Rookie Blue was the most-watched program in the hour for the 2nd consecutive week, increasing its lead over NBC’s Hollywood Game Night to 1.3 million Total Viewers (versus nearly 1 million viewers last week). The ABC drama pulled in its biggest audience since the end of May (since 5/30/13) and was up over the prior week by 10% in Adults 18-49 and by 7% in Adults 25-54. In addition, Rookie Blue grew its overall audience over the comparable week last summer (+4%) for the 4th original telecast in a row.

Friday: With a repeat Shark Tank and original newsmagazines What Would You Do? and 20/20, ABC led the pack on Friday night in Adults 18-49, beating NBC with a replay of Camp into an original 2-hour Dateline by 11%, CBS by 43% and Fox by 67%.

Following a summer ratings high with the FOX MLB ALL-STAR GAME, solid performances by MASTERCHEF and HELL’S KITCHEN, and a strong special primetime preview of its new ANIMATION DOMINATION HIGH DEF block, FOX ranked No. 2 last week among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.  For the week, FOX had:

·         6 of the Top 20 programs among Adults 18-49: FOX MLB ALL-STAR GAME (No. 1), MASTERCHEF Wed-9pm (No. 7), HELL’S KITCHEN (No. 9), FAMILY GUY Encore (No. 14), THE SIMPSONS Encore (No. 16) and BOB’S BURGERS Encore (No. 17).

·         9 of the Top 20 programs among Adults 18-34: FOX MLB ALL-STAR GAME (No. 1), MASTERCHEF Wed-9pm (No. 3), FAMILY GUY Encore (No. 4), HELL’S KITCHEN (No. 8), THE SIMPSONS Encore (No. 10), BOB’S BURGERS Encore (No. 12), ANIMATION DOMINATION HIGH DEF Preview (No. 15), HELL’S KITCHEN Encore (No. 19 tie) and THE SIMPSONS-Sun 7:30pm (No. 19 tie).

·         9 of the Top 20 programs among Teens: FOX MLB ALL-STAR GAME (No. 3), THE SIMPSONS Encore (No. 6), FAMILY GUY Encore (No. 10), MASTERCHEF WED-9pm (No. 11 tie), BOB’S BURGERS Encore (No. 11 tie), HELL’S KITCHEN (No. 15 tie), THE SIMPSONS-Sun 7:30pm (No. 15 tie), MASTERCHEF Encore (No. 20 tie) and ANIMATION DOMINATION HIGH DEF Preview (No. 20 tie).

·         2 of the Top 20 programs among Total Viewers: FOX MLB ALL-STAR GAME (No. 3) and MASTERCHEF Wed-9pm (No. 16).

Monday:  FOX aired encores of RAISING HOPE (0.6/2) and 8pm and 8:30pm, followed by encores of NEW GIRL (0.6/2) and THE MINDY PROJECT (0.5/1), and ranked fourth for the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens.

Tuesday: FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Total Viewers, posting its highest rated night of the summer so far in these three measures. The FOX MLB ALL-STAR GAME from 8:13-11:31pm (3.2/10) matched last year’s game (3.2/10, 8:14-11:17p).

Wednesday: FOX ranked No. 2 for the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens.  Following an encore MASTERCHEF at 8pm (1.1/4), an original MASTERCHEF at 9pm (2.2/7) was the second highest rated program of the night among Adults 18-49 (tie) and Adults 18-34.

Thursday: FOX ranked No. 2 for the night among Adults 18-49, rising to No. 1 among Adults 18-34 and Teens (tie). After an encore HELL’S KITCHEN at 8pm (1.2/4), an original HELL’S KITCHEN at 9pm (2.1/7) was the highest rated program of the night among Adults 18-34 (tie).

Friday:  FOX ranked No. 5 among Adults 18-49 for the night. A BONES encore delivered a 0.8/3 in Adults 18-49. At 9pm, THE FOLLOWING encore (0.4/1) improved one-tenth of a rating point versus the previous week and held steady with its summer average.

Saturday: FOX ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-34 and No. 2 among Adults 18-49 with encores of COPS (0.5/3), COPS 2 (0.7/3) and BONES (0.5/2).

Sunday: FOX’s encore line-up and ANIMATION DOMINATION HIGH DEF Preview ranked No. 1 in Sunday prime among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens. An AMERICAN DAD 7pm encore posted a 0.6/2, while an encore THE SIMPSONS at 7:30pm delivered a 0.9/3 in Adults 18-49. THE SIMPSONS 8pm encore (1.4/5) and BOB’S BURGERS encore (1.3/4) gained 0.2 to 0.3 rating points versus the previous Sunday, and the FAMILY GUY Encore (1.5/4) held steady week-to-week. The ANIMATION DOMINATION HI-DEF Preview at 9:30pm delivered a 1.1/3 in Adults 18-49.
