ABCWith Nielsen’s release of Live + 3 Day program ratings for the first week of the 2012-13 season, ABC solidified its claim of delivering TV’s #1 scripted show in Modern Family, the #1 drama in Grey’s Anatomy and the #1 new comedy in The Neighbors.  Additionally, the Net swept Nielsen’s Upscale categories during premiere week, based on non-sports L+3 ratings.

·         Among Adults 18-49, ABC saw 3 series add on more than a full rating point over their initially reported numbers, more than any other network: Modern Family (+1.8 rating – 5.5 to 7.3), Grey’s Anatomy (+1.3 rating – 4.4 to 5.7) and Once Upon a Time (+1.1 rating – 3.9 to 5.0).

Final Live + 7 Day numbers will be available Monday, October 8.

Season Premiere Sunday:

Based on the L+3 ratings for Sunday, ABC’s Once Upon a Time grew from a 3.9 rating among Adults 18-49 in the originally reported Live + Same Day numbers to a 5.0 rating, bolstering its rank as Sunday’s top-rated non-sports show among young adults. Gaining 1.1 Adult 18-49 rating points in its first 3 days of DVR playback, the Disney-owned drama moved up to rank as the #6 non-sports program of premiere week in the L+3 numbers, hopping over CBS’ NCIS (4.9). Initially in the L+SD statistics, Once Upon a Time trailed the CBS drama by two-tenths of a rating point.

·         In Sunday’s 10 o’clock hour, the series debut of ABC’s 666 Park Avenue shot up 38% to move out of a tie with CBS’ The Mentalist in the initially reported Live + Same Day numbers to top the season premiere of the veteran CBS drama in the Live + 3 numbers among Adults 18-49 (2.9 vs. 2.8). The new ABC drama picked up eight-tenths of a rating point in its first 3 days of DVR playback, lifting its number from a 2.1 rating to a 2.9 rating.

·         From the Live + Same Day Program Ratings to the Live + 3 Day Program Ratings, the season opener of Revenge in its new Sunday 9pm time slot gained almost a full rating point among Adults 18-49 (+0.9 rating points – 3.2 vs. 4.1). In fact, the AD18-49 increases from L+SD to L+3 Day were much higher this year than last for both of ABC’s sophomore dramas: Revenge (28% vs. 18%) and Once Upon a Time (28% vs. 23%).

·         In their sophomore season premieres, Once Upon a Time and Revenge were each up from their respective freshman series debuts in the Live + 3 Day ratings, gaining 2% and 5% year to year, respectively.
