ABC’s Bachelor Pad grew 18%

ABCMonday: From 8-10pm, opposite NBC’s Olympic-promoted 2-hour debut of Stars Earn Stripes and Fox’s series debut of Hotel Hell and an original Hell’s Kitchen, ABC’s Bachelor Pad grew week to week by 18% in Total Viewers and by 9% in Adults 18-49, hitting best-since-premiere numbers on both measures – since 7/23/12. During the 10 o’clock hour against the highly promoted season opener of NBC’s Grimm, ABC’s The Glass House posted double-digit gains over the prior week with viewers (+19%) and young adults (+17%).


Tuesday: Building its numbers for the 2nd week in a row during Tuesday’s 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s NY Med shot up week to week in Total Viewers (+48%), Adults 18-49 (+43%) and Adults 25-54 (+50%), hitting a 4-week high in the key news demo – since 7/17/12.  NY Med jumped over its lead-in at 10pm with Total Viewers (+169%) and Adults 18-49 (+67%), building audience for ABC in the hour for its 6th straight telecast.  Growing throughout its broadcast, the sixth installment of the 8-part ABC News docu-series gained viewers (+13%) and young adults (+10%) from its first half-hour to its second half-hour.  Continuing to improve its time period year to year for ABC, NY Med surged over original programming on the year-ago night by double-digit percentages in Total Viewers (+19%), Adults 25-54 (+25%) and Adults 18-49 (+11%).

Wednesday: Building on its lead-in at 10pm and hitting summer highs for ABC in the time period, A Special Edition of 20/20 ranked #1 during the hour with Adults 25-54. From losing weight to looking great to pampered pets to designer shoes, ABC’s 20/20 took a look at the latest and greatest obsessions.  The program included previously aired segments.  Boosting its slot week to week by 46% in Total Viewers, by 63% in Adults 18-49 and by 78% in Adults 25-54, 20/20 scored ABC’s highest ratings in the hour this summer in both key Adult measures.

Thursday: Soaring over its lead-in by 1.6 million viewers at 10pm, ABC’s Rookie Blue shot up to rank as the most-watched TV show in its slot for its 2nd consecutive original telecast. In the hour, the ABC drama outdelivered NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams by 14% in Total Viewers, by 10% in Adults 18-49 and by 8% in Adults 25-54. Rookie Blue was up over its year-ago telecast by 4% in Total Viewers.

Friday: With repeats of Shark Tank and back-to-back installments of 20/20, ABC qualified as the most-watched network on Friday night, outdrawing runner-up Fox with NFL coverage by 7%. ABC’s 20/20-FRIDAY and 20/20 stood as Friday’s Top 2 TV programs with Total Viewers. Soaring week to week by double-digits in Total Viewers (+19%) and Adults 18-49 (+20%), ABC delivered its biggest Friday audience in 5 weeks and equaled a 9-week high on the night among young adults – since 7/13/12 and 6/15/12, respectively. At 8 o’clock, ABC’s replay Shark Tank outdelivered its unscripted competition on NBC, beating an encore America’s Got Talent by 23% among Total Viewers and 67% in Adults 18-49. The repeat Shark Tank also dominated CBS’ original Teachers Rock special by 1.0 million viewers and 100% with young adults. Growing for its 3rd straight telecast, Shark Tank was up week to week by 19% in Total Viewers and 11% in Adults 18-49. ABC’s rebroadcast 20/20-FRIDAY registered as Friday’s most-watched TV program. The ABC newsmagazine shot up over its lead-in by 1.0 million viewers to take first place in its 9pm time slot in viewers over NFL coverage on Fox (+12%). Jumping over the prior week by 44% in Adults 18-49 and by 33% in Adults 25-54, 20/20-FRIDAY matched ABC’s best summertime (Memorial Day through Labor Day) numbers with regular programming in the 9 o’clock hour in more than 2 years – since 7/30/10. ABC’s encore 20/20 stood as the #1 program in the 10 o’clock hour in Total Viewers and the key Adult 25-54 news demo. The repeat ABC news program held double-digit advantages over NBC’s original Dateline in Adults 18-49 (+20%) and Adults 25-54 (+13%). 20/20 marked its best numbers in 5 weeks with Total Viewers, in 4 weeks among Adults 18-49 and in 10 weeks among Adults 25-54 – since 7/13/12, 7/20/12 and 6/8/12, respectively.

Sunday: Doubling its young adult lead-in (+100%) at 9pm against NBC’s NFL coverage (Steelers-Colts) and gaining viewers throughout its 2-hour broadcast, the season finale of ABC’s EM: Weight Loss Edition scored double-digit week-to-week increases for its 2nd straight telecast in Total Viewers (+29%) and Adults 18-49 (+33%).   In fact on both measures, the ABC unscripted series hit 5-week highs – since 7/15/12.  During its Season 2 run on Sunday from 9-11pm, EM: Weight Loss Edition greatly improved the time period year to year for ABC in Adults 18-49 (+50%).
