ABC Grows its Overall Audience in Late-Night Year to Year.
“Nightline” is No. 1 Season to Date Among Adults 25-54 and Total Viewers for First Time Since 1993.
“JKL” Tops CBS’ “Ferguson” in Key Adults for the 7th Week in a Row.
ABC Late-Night (Monday – Friday)
During the week of February 7, 2011, ABC grew its overall audience in late-night over the same week last year (2.36 million vs. 2.34 million) for the 5th time in the last 6 weeks.
For the 3rd week in a row, ABC topped NBC in late-night among Adults 25-54 (+5% — 1.12 million vs. 1.07 million).
“Nightline” (Monday – Friday)
During the week of February 7, 2011, ABC News’ “Nightline” drew 3.76 million Total Viewers, 1.58 million Adults 25-54 and 1.18 million Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Season to date, “Nightline” ranks in first place among Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. This is the first time that “Nightline” has been in first place at this point in the season since at least the 1993-94 season, when “Letterman” began on CBS. In addition, “Nightline” is up by +3% in Adults 25-54 season to date compared to the same point last year.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” (Monday – Friday)
In its new time slot, ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” built by 4% in Adults 18-49 (732,000 vs. 706,000) and by 12% among Adults 18-34 (274,000 vs. 245,000) over its performance in its previous time slot this season. In fact, “JKL” improved its lead-in retention among both young adult demos, retaining a strong 78% of its “Nightline” lead-in among Adults 18-34 (274,000 vs. 351,000) for the week of February 7, 2011.
ABC’s “JKL” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” by 10% in Adults 18-49 (732,000 vs. 666,000) and by 17% in Adults 18-34 (274,000 vs. 235,000), marking the 7th week in a row “JKL” beat the CBS late-night program in both young adult demos.
