ABC’s Mistresses up 29%

Monday: Spiking 29% over its lead-in at 10pm in Adults 18-49, ABC’s Mistresses returned after being pre-empted for 2 weeks to dominate NBC’s Siberia in the hour (+29%), which fell from its lead-in.  In addition, Mistresses continued to improve its time period for ABC by double digits over the year-ago night with original programming.  On average, the new ABC drama has boosted its slot year to year by strong margins in both Total Viewers (+47%) and Adults 18-49 (+73%).


Tuesday: From 8-10pm in head-to-head competition, ABC’s Extreme Weight Loss defeated Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance for the first time in Adults 18-49 (+8%). The ABC unscripted series grew by double digits from start to finish in viewers (+11%) and young adults (+27%). Up 18% over the prior week to a new season high in Adults 18-49, Extreme Weight Loss scored its top rating in more than 1 year (since 7/15/12). NBC’s America’s Got Talent (9-11pm) and Fox’s SYTYCD (8-11pm) were both down week to week.

Thursday: At 8pm, ABC’s Wipeout matched a best-since-premiere rating among Adults 18-49.  In addition, the ABC unscripted series pulled in its 2nd-largest audience this summer. During the 9 o’clock hour, ABC’s Motive also posted its 2nd consecutive week of gains with Total Viewers (+9%) and Adults 18-49 (+25%), drawing its biggest audience in 4 weeks and hitting a 12-week high in young adults – since 7/25/13 and 5/30/13, respectively. At 10pm, ABC’s Rookie Blue ranked as the most-watched TV show in its time period for the 7th week running. The ABC drama grew for the 2nd consecutive week in Total Viewers (+9%) and Adults 18-49 (+10%) to equal its highest young adult number in 2 months – since 6/27/13.   Rookie Blue was up over its performance on the same night last year (on 8/23/12) by 21% in Total Viewers and by 10% in Adults 18-49.  In fact on average, Rookie Blue is up 10% summer to summer in Total Viewers, delivering its most-watched season in 3 years – since 2010.

Saturday: With coverage of the NASCAR Series at Bristol, ABC ranked as the #1 network on Saturday night, beating runner-up CBS with NFL coverage by 54% in Total Viewers and by 42% in Adults 18-49. ABC scored its best numbers on the night this summer in both viewers and young adults. Airing from 7:30-11:10pm, NASCAR Series at Bristol was easily Saturday’s #1 TV program in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, dominating CBS’ NFL pre-season game (8:00-11:21pm) by 43% in viewers and by 33% with young adults. In addition, the NASCAR race won the night over CBS’ NFL pre-season game in key Men demos (M18-49/M25-54). Saturday night’s NASCAR race improved over the year-ago race at Bristol by 7% in Total Viewers and by 7% in Adults 18-49, marking ABC’s most-watched-ever NASCAR Series at Bristol race.

Sunday: During the 7 o’clock hour, ABC’s repeat America’s Funniest Home Videos was up for the 2nd straight week in Total Viewers (+6%) and Adults 18-49 (+22%) to deliver its most-watched telecast since the beginning of June (since 6/02/13) and score a summer high in young adults. Building on its lead-in (+17%), a special 9pm airing of ABC’s Secret Millionaire attracted the Net’s largest non-sports audience in the time period this summer. At 10pm, ABC’s repeat Castle earned its most-watched broadcast in the hour this summer.
