ABC’s ‘Nightline’ ties ‘Letterman’ in 18-49

ABC News’ “Nightline” placed second among Total Viewers for the week of March 22, 2010, according to Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” also tied CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” in the A18-49 rating (1.0). The program is solidly in second place season to date among Total Viewers with 3.85 million. It continues to experience growth, increasing +11% among Total Viewers week to week, while NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” decreased -5%. “Nightline” also increased +21% among A18-49 and +12% among A25-54, while “The Tonight Show” decreased -7% among A25-54 and -3% among A18-49.


Additionally, “Nightline” continues to cut the gaps with “The Tonight Show,” shrinking the A25-54 gap with NBC by 55% and cutting the total viewing gap by 48% week to week. “Nightline” also cut the gap with “The Tonight Show” year to year; closing the gaps by 65% among A25-54 and 55% among Total Viewers.

*Note: “Letterman’s” ratings for last Thursday and Friday were excluded due to NCAA basketball. Ratings for CBS were based on a 3-day average.

ABC News’ “Nightline” is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Martin Bashir. John Donvan and Vicki Mabrey are correspondents. James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
