ABC revels in the spirit of everyone’s favorite spooky holiday this month. Following are episodes airing on the network with a Halloween theme: Desperate Housewives – “Excited and Scared” – The Middle of “Halloween” –

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27: “The Middle” (8:00-8:30 p.m.) — “Halloween” — Frankie is excited over being invited to an adult neighborhood Halloween party. But will she be able to get Mike to dress up in a costume, or will he have his own idea of fun? Meanwhile, a melancholy Sue’s spirits are lifted when she discovers that Reverend TimTom is back in town and hosting a Halloween church event; things don’t go quite as planned for Axl, his friends or their dates as they head out to an exclusive haunted house party; and Brick chooses a unique Halloween costume that is not easily defined.

“Better with You” (8:30-9:00 p.m.) — “Better with Halloween” – It’s Halloween, which is also the date of Maddie’s birthday, who feels like she can never have a real birthday because the holiday always steals her spotlight. Mia and Casey offer to give her a Halloween-free party at their new home, the renovated firehouse.

“Modern Family” (9:00-9:31 p.m.) — “Halloween” – Claire loves Halloween and is gearing up to spookify the Dunphy house for the trick or treaters. She gives each family member a role to play, but none of it goes quite right… Cameron can’t shake a traumatic childhood experience and hates the holiday, Mitchell has had a terrible day at work, and Gloria is acting weird after being teased by Jay and Manny about her accent.

“Cougar Town” (9:31-10:00 p.m.) — “You Don’t Know How It Feels” — Jules’ dad (Ken Jenkins of “Scrubs”) comes to visit on a special Halloween episode. Jules is determined to connect with him, so much so that she gives in to dressing up for Halloween, his favorite holiday. Meanwhile, Grayson hits it off with Jules’ dad, Bobby wants back in as baby Stan’s guardian, should anything happen to Ellie and Andy, and Laurie reminds Travis how much fun Halloween is.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28: “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” (8:00-9:00 p.m.) — The classic animated Halloween-themed PEANUTS special, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” created by late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, returns, along with a bonus PEANUTS cartoon, “This is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers.”

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31: “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (7:00-8:00 p.m.) – “Episode 2105” — Trick or treat mishaps, costumes so terrifying they scare the children and, most frightening of all, pets in costume are just some of the video clips featured.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (8:00-9:00 p.m.) – “Oregon School for the Deaf” — On a special Halloween-themed build, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and famed horror film director/heavy metal musician Rob Zombie traveled to Salem, Oregon, to meet the students at the Oregon School for the Deaf (OSD). The OSD’s annual Nightmare Factory, a spine tingling haunted house, generates much-needed income for the 140-year-old financially-strapped school, a place which students consider their second home. But the 12,000 square foot basement where the Nightmare Factory is usually held has become frightfully unsafe. The “EM:HE” design team had just seven days to make the OSD basement safe again and trick it out in a scary and spectacular way. Marlee Matlin also surprises the students during their visit to the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

“Desperate Housewives” (9:00-10:01 p.m.) — “Excited and Scared” – As Halloween approaches, Susan is forced to reveal her secret sexy internet side job to a shocked Mike; Juanita becomes suspicious of Gabrielle’s sudden interest in Grace; Lynette is concerned about Tom’s mother’s (guest star Lois Smith, “True Blood”) memory lapses; Bree learns a secret about Keith (guest star Brian Austin Green), and Paul is encouraged to take wife Beth (guest star Emily Bergl, “Men in Trees”) out on a date in order to light a spark in their unromantic relationship.
