ABC’s Wipeout jumps 29%


ABCTuesday: Shooting up from its lead-in at 9pm by 50% in Adults 18-49 against the Olympics, ABC’s replay of Wipeout tied its non-sports competition in the hour on CBS (NCIS: LA) and Fox (MasterChef).  In fact the show jumped by 29% week to week in Adults 18-49 to deliver ABC’s 2nd-highest non-sports rating in the time period since early June – since 6/5/12.  At 10pm, opposite the night’s top-rated hour of the Summer Games, ABC’s NY Med surged by double-digit percentages week to week in both Adults 25-54 (+25%) and Adults 18-49 (+17%).

Wednesday: From 10-11pm, opposite the third hour of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, ABC’s Final Witness grew from the prior week by 8% in Total Viewers and by 14% in Adults 18-49.

Friday: Featuring encore telecasts of Shark Tank and 20/20 from 9-11pm, ABC outperformed the repeat line-ups on both CBS by 67% and Fox by 67% among Adults 18-49. Scoring solid gains week to week in Total Viewers (+16%) and Adults 18-49 (+43%), ABC delivered its best Friday night performance in 3 weeks – since 7/20/12. At 8 o’clock, ABC’s replay Shark Tank beat its unscripted competition on CBS by double-digit margins, topping a repeat Undercover Boss by 10% in Total Viewers and 29% in Adults 18-49. The ABC series also dominated Fox’s Bones encore by 33% in viewers and by 50% among young adults. Shark Tank grew for its 2nd consecutive telecast in Total Viewers (+3%) and Adults 18-49 (+13%) to deliver its highest numbers in 3 weeks – since 7/20/12. ABC’s repeat 20/20-FRIDAY nearly doubled encores of CBS’ CSI: NY and Fox’s Bones among Adults 18- (+80%) in the 9pm hour. In addition, the ABC newsmagazine outdrew the CBS drama by 1.1 million viewers and the Fox drama by 1.6 million viewers. 20/20-FRIDAY soared over the prior week by 19% in Total Viewers and by 13% with Adults 18-49, hitting a 3-week high – since 7/20/12. From 10-11pm, ABC’s replay 20/20 drew a 21% larger audience than its repeat competition on CBS (Blue Bloods). 20/20 also doubled the delivery of Blue Bloods among Adults 18-49 (+120%) and Adults 25-54 (+100%). Soaring to its top results in 3 weeks (since 7/20/12), the ABC newsmagazine surged week to week by 1.0 million viewers and by 57% in Adults 18-49.

Sunday: Opposite NBC’s 2012 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony, ABC’s Sunday numbers increased week to week among Total Viewers (+9%) and Adults 18-49 (+13%).  Surging over its lead-in at 8pm among young adults (+11%), ABC’s Secret Millionaire grew from its week-ago delivery by 5% in Total Viewers and spiked 25% in Adults 18-49.  In fact the ABC unscripted series marked its best numbers in 1 month – since 7/15/12.  From 9-11pm, ABC’s EM: Weight Loss Edition posted double-digit gains over the prior week in viewers (+12%) and young adults (+13%) to earn its top results in 4 weeks – since 7/15/12.  Despite the Olympic competition, Weight Loss Edition gained audience during each half-hour of its 2-hour broadcast, jumping by 32% from start to finish.
