ACA Connects Salutes New Cable TV, DOCSIS Pioneers

ACA Connects-affiliated leaders on Oct. 2 were inducted into the 53rd Cable TV Pioneers at the group’s annual dinner, held at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans.
Joining the Cable TV Pioneers are individuals from Schurz Communications and Patriot Media, among others.
Now holding the honor of Cable TV Pioneers are Dick Beard, Director of Business Development at Ervin Cable Construction; Chris Fenger, EVP/COO at Patriot Media; Tom Mack Williams IV, VP/Engineering & Technology at Schurz Communications; and Marc Cohen, EVP of Sales & Marketing at Evolution Broadband.
The Cable Pioneers also marked the two decades-plus anniversary of DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification), an international telecommunications standard that allows the addition of high-bandwidth data transfer to an existing cable TV system.
The Cable TV Pioneers recognized the following ACA Connects members for their role in creating the DOCSIS standard: Bill Bauer, President/CEO, interTECH; Ed Holleran, Co-Founder of Atlantic Broadband; and Rickey Luke, Chief Technology Officer of Cable TV of East Alabama.
