Acker says farewell to Farwell as MRG shuts down

Mark Acker has spent the first decade of the 21st Century selling off his late father’s Metropolitan Radio Group. The announcement of the impending sale of KIJN-FM, serving the Clovis NM area from across the state line in Farwell TX will bring that task to an end.

Gary Acker’s group had surpassed 30 radio stations in its heyday, before his death in 2000.

North Texas Radio Group LP, headed by Dick Witkovski, is the buyer. According to MRG’s broker John Pierce, the price for the station is $50K. Dave Wagonvoord was on hand to represent the buyer.

The station has FCC permission to remain silent until next spring. The station will be restored to the airwaves after NTRG has taken possession.
