On 6/8, The Advertising Educational Foundation will bestow their AEF 2010 Media Award to Disney/ABC Television Group with an acceptance by Anne Sweeney, Co-chair, Disney Media Networks, and President, Disney-ABC Television Group at their 10th annual Honors Night Gala.

The annual AEF Media Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments in promoting and supporting the advertising industry and AEF’s mission to enrich the understanding of advertising and to expand and elevate the advertising discourse on-campus, in society and in the industry.

“Television and advertising are a package deal, and have been since the beginning of the medium,” said Sweeney.  “When the Disney/ABC Television Group became the first to combine television content and new platforms, we knew that our advertising partners would have to play an important role in the digital future.  One of the Advertising Educational Foundations’ most important missions is taking real world advertising experience into the classrooms as the industry evolves with us in the digital age – working with colleges, university professors and different communications programs so that students are prepared for the evolution of advertising as it unfolds.”

Previous recipients of the AEF Media Award have included Hearst Corporation; AOL; Gannett Company; NBC-Universal; The Washington Post Company; Dow Jones & Company, The New York Times Company; and Time, Inc.

The Advertising Educational Foundation is the ad industry’s provider and distributor of educational content to enrich the understanding of advertising and its role in culture, society and the economy. Created in 1983 as a non-profit, operating foundation, the AEF is supported by ad agencies, advertisers and media companies.
