Aflac’s new television spot, dubbed “Spicy,” features the renowned Aflac Duck and NBC/Food Network star and chef, Guy Fieri, grilling up a new message to educate consumers about Aflac and its products. Aflac’s Jon Sullivan tells RBR-TVBR the spot will run on all the major networks (started 8/16) and more than 20 cable networks – “with social media activation between Guy’s social activity and our Facebook/Twitter activities.  Don’t know if you saw it but last week the NYT did a great spread on Guy, which we feel is a great illustration of Guy’s relevance – great timing.”

Fieri, host of NBC’s Minute to Win It and Food Network’s Guy’s Big Bite and Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, explains how Aflac pays policyholders cash for the things that major medical insurance doesn’t cover, like rent, car payments and groceries.

In “Spicy,” Fieri is seen grilling kabobs while helping define Aflac’s products by explaining how the company helps protect policyholders when they have encountered an unexpected accident or illness. When the impetuous Aflac Duck sneaks a red-hot pepper from the grill he gets more than he bargained for as chaos ensues.

“Working with the Aflac Duck to tell America how Aflac pays policyholders fast is enough to make anyone’s hair stand up,” Fieri joked. “But this commercial has a serious message about how Aflac policies can be a key ingredient to anyone’s financial plan.”

“Spicy” is the 51st television commercial starring the Aflac Duck and will air through November. View the latest Aflac television commercial, “Spicy” at www.aflac.com.
