Cox’s Wand Lands Lujan DOS Seat In JAX

In 2006, Alana Lujan joined Cox Media Group’s Houston cluster as an account executive.

Today, she’s now leading the sales efforts for all of the company’s radio stations in Jacksonville.

Lujan has been named Director of Sales for the group of stations comprised of News/Talk WOKV-FM, Urban AC WOKV-HD2 “Hot 99.5,” Classic Rock WJGL-FM, CHR/Rhythmic WJGL-HD2 “Power 106.1,” WEZI-FM “Easy 102.9,” CHR/Pop WAPE-FM, Alternative WXXJ-FM “X106.5,” and ESPN Radio affiliate WOKV-AM.

What about Apollo Group and its majority stake in Cox Media Group’s Jacksonville TV stations? That will not impact her role at WJAX-TV and WFOX-TV, which will continue on in the stations’ sales department.

This suggests that Apollo will be looking to lock in majority ownership of the Jacksonville stations and sending them into the just-formed Camelot Radio Buyer Inc.

Lujan’s experience at CMG saw her rise to Houston GSM in 2013, and in 2018 moving to Jacksonville to take the role of integrated digital sales manager in Jacksonville,  all digital sales and fulfillment for TV and Radio.

“It’s an honor to have the opportunity to lead our strong and talented sales team in Jacksonville,” says Lujan. “I’m excited for this new adventure and to bring my experience in broadcast and digital sales as well as my love of radio to help this team achieve new levels of success.”

CMG/Jacksonville Market VP Dan Lawrie adds, “Alana has a great track record of building teams with the ability to generate significant broadcast and digital revenue. Her passion for motivating and developing her people is what makes her great at what she does.”
