Extreme Media received WZBN-FM Camilla GA, an Urban-formatted FM serving the Albany GA market, by swapping an FM translator serving the Atlanta area to Cumulus. Now it’s turning around and picking up cash for the station.
The seller, headed by Steve Hegwood, is sending to station to Light Media Holdings Inc., whose principals are Danny Wilson and Mark Harris. The price will be $250K. $20K of that was put on deposit, another $130K will be paid in cash on closing day and the parties will finish off the deal with a $100K promissory note.
Wilson has an interest in one other station, but it is not anywhere near Albany. WHRH-AM Lithonia GA is east of Atlanta.
WZBN-FM, on the other hand, is not only in the southwest quadrant of Georgia, it is also to the south of Albany. However, the station’s Class A, 6 kW signal takes its 60 dBu contour right up to that point on the map – with enough juice to make a respectable showing in the local Arbitrons.
