Ali, ‘The Bachelorette’ her ratings are a sizzling hit

For all Ali fans her ratings are a hit.  The Bachelorette on Memorial Day, ABC took second place on the night in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, while finishing #1 on Monday with Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and across key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54). 


ABC was up from Memorial Day Monday last year (5/25/09), when it aired The Bachelorette into the premiere of Here Come the Newlyweds, by 1.3 million viewers and by 15% in Adults 18-49, despite facing competition from the Stanley Cup Finals Game 2 on NBC this year.  In fact in viewers and young adults, ABC marked its strongest Memorial Day results in 4 years – since 2006.  

ABC’s The Bachelorette finished #1 in its 2-hour time period (8-10 pm) with Total Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.   The ABC unscripted series also won its time-slot for the 2nd straight week among its core audience of Women 18-34.  In fact The Bachelorette stood as Monday’s #1 TV show with Women 18-34 and Women 18-49.  The Bachelorette posted year-to-year increases over its performance on Memorial Day last year of 1.6 million viewers and 14% in Adults 18-49.

ABC Generated Year-to-Year Increases for the 2nd Week in a Row as the ‘The Bachelorette’ is building strong loyalty. ABC is No. 2 for the May Sweep in Young Adults and No. 1 in Key Women.

ABC is Monday’s Most-Watched Net on Each of the Final 10 Weeks of the Season. Opposite Season Finales on CBS, NBC and Fox, ABC’s Season Premiere of
“The Bachelorette” Gains Over Last Year in Viewers and Wins with Women 18-34.

Sweep WEEK No. 36:
During the week spanning the final 3 nights of the TV Season and May Sweep leading into the extended Memorial Day holiday weekend (w/o 5/24/10), ABC’s “Dancing” season finales finished in the Top 10 TV shows among both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49:  “Dancing with the Stars” – No. 3/No. 6 and “DWTS the Results Show” – No. 4/No. 7.  ABC’s 6th-season premiere of “The Bachelorette” finished among the Top 10 TV shows for the week with its core audience of Women 18-34 (No. 9) and Women 18-49 (No. 9).

Last Monday 5/31/10:
ABC qualified as the most-watched TV network (12.5 million) for the 10th consecutive week (all 4 Mondays of the May Sweep).  ABC built its overall Monday audience from the year-ago night for the 9th time in 10 weeks.

From 9:00-11:00 p.m., the 6th-season premiere of “The Bachelorette” earned second place against its broadcast competition among Total Viewers (9.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.8/8), while ranking No. 1 in its 2-hour slot among its core audience of Women 18-34 (3.8/11).   In addition, “The Bachelorette” finished as the No. 1 TV series in the 10 o’clock hour, beating the season finale of CBS’ veteran drama, “CSI: Miami,” among Adults 18-34 (2.4/7 vs. 2.3/7), Women 18-34 (3.8/11 vs. 2.8/8) and Women 18-49 (4.1/11 vs. 3.9/11).
