Amanda-Bennett1The Voice of America has a new director.

Amanda Bennett comes to VOA from the Washington Post where she was a contributing columnist. Previously, Bennett worked at Bloomberg News, where she created and ran a global team of investigative reporters and editors and co-founded the Bloomberg News Women’s project.

Her background includes stints as editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer, editor of the Herald-Leader in Lexington, Kentucky, managing editor/projects for The Oregonian in Portland, and reporter and editor for the Wall Street Journal for more than 20 years.

Broadcasting Board of Governors Jeff Schell said Bennett’s understanding of the rapidly evolving digital news marketplace would serve VOA well.

Bennett succeeds David Ensor, who was VOA director from 2011 to 2015.
