On Valentine’s Day Amaturo Broadcasting’s northwestern LA quadcast unveiled a new brand, transitioning the name Jill-FM to “Playlist 92.7,” and promising “Southern California’s biggest playlist.” The signals, all on 92.7, include KJLL-FM Fountain Valley, CA; KAJL-FM Thousand Oaks, CA; KAJL-1 Malibu, CA; and KHJL-FM Adelanto, CA.
OM/PD Rick Shaw says the move isn’t so much a format change as a format expansion. Their existing target of Women 25-54 wanted more eras and styles…everything from 70s classics to today’s hits. So the station and consultant Alan Burns we’ve put together a deeper playlist, based off the original Jill-FM format.
Jill FM hasn’t been completely dumped. The station’s website says 92.7 Jill-FM “is now sharing her playlist, in fact it’s Playlist 92.7!” The playlist is continuously updated via MusicToGo’s TuneGenie widget.
Amaturo and Burns have service-marked the name “Playlist” and will be offering it for license to other markets.
