Alexa Delivers The News? It’s As Easy As ‘CBS’

Hey, Alexa! Play the World News Roundup.

alexaCBS Radio News is now delivering its newscasts on the Amazon Alexa Voice service.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The deal makes CBS Radio News the first commercial news network to be available on Alexa.

Through Alexa, users will be able to hear full five-minute newscasts (those heard across the U.S., at the top of the hour, on CBS-owned and affiliate radio stations) and one-minute news capsules. They are available on all Alexa-enabled devices including the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap and Amazon Fire TV.

Listeners can get the latest news updated hourly through the Flash Briefing on those devices.

By going to the settings menu on the Amazon Alexa app and selecting Flash Briefing, listeners will be able to activate both five-minute newscasts and shorter one-minute news briefs to play on demand.
