U.S. financial markets ended the week on a mixed note, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 24.38, to 21,384.28, and the Nasdaq composite index slipped 13.74, to 6,151.76.
The day’s big news on Wall Street involves the blockbuster $13.7 billion acquisition plan that would see Amazon acquire Whole Foods Market. Amazon shares soared 2.4%, to $987.71, per share.
A big percentage gain was seen at some media stocks, including iHeartMedia. The nation’s No. 1 radio broadcast company saw its shares rise 9.1%, ending the day at $1.80.
Cumulus Media, on the other hand, experienced a 8.2% decline in its share price, finishing the week at 48 cents.
