’American Idol’ dominates Tuesday time slot w/ Top 8 girl competing

The top 8 girls competed on AMERICAN IDOL last night, posting an 8.2/23 among Adults 18-49 and winning the 8-9p hour among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Teens and all key demos.


AMERICAN IDOL dominated its time period showing an advantage of +116% over the next highest-rated network (CBS) among Adults 18-49, +169% among Adults 18-34, +264% among Teens and +16% among Total Viewers.

Compared to last week’s two hour performance on Tuesday, AMERICAN IDOL held 95% of its audience among Adults 18-49, 99% among Adults 18-34 and 96% in Total Viewers.

So far this season, AMERICAN IDOL’s average is on par with the same weeks last year with Most Current ratings vs. comparable Most Current, showing 95% retention among Adults 18-49, 97% among Adults 18-34, 100% among Teens and 95% in Total Viewers.

A special GLEE encore at 9p posted a 3.0/8 among Adults 18-49 and won its hour among Teens and Women 18-34.

FOX ranked No. 1 for the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens and virtually all key demos. FOX beat the next highest-rated network by +65% among Adults 18-49, +132% among Adults 18-34 and +185% among Teens.

Competition
Following an 8p Lost repeat (1.5/4), original episodes of ABC’s Lost (4.2/11) and The Forgotten (1.5/4) were both on the low side.

On CBS, NCIS (3.8/11) delivered its lowest-rated original episode of the season while NCIS: LA (3.5/9) and The Good Wife (2.8/8) were about average.

NBC’s The Biggest Loser (3.0/8) posted this season’s lowest first-run episode and week two of new drama Parenthood (2.6/8) dropped -16% from its premiere last Tuesday (3.1/9).
