'American Idol' leads Fox to Thursday victory

With its Thursday combo of AMERICAN IDOL and BONES, FOX ranked No. 1 among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers and all key demos last night – the first time the network has ever won the first night of the February sweep in the core adult demo.                   


FOX outperformed the next highest rated network for the night by +74% among Adults 18-49 (5.4 vs. ABC and CBS’ 3.1) and +17% in Total Viewers (16.0 vs. CBS’ 13.7 Mil.)                   

AMERICAN IDOL
At 8pm, AMERICAN IDOL posted a 7.5/20 among Adults 18-49, retaining 97% of last Thursday’s performance in both Adults 18-49 (7.5 vs. 7.7) and Total Viewers (21.8 vs. 22.5 Mil.)
AMERICAN IDOL was the highest rated program of the night in all key demos and beat the next highest rated program in Adults 18-49 by +74% (7.5 vs. 4.3 for Big Bang Theory) and in Total Viewers by +44% (21.8 vs. 15.1 Mil for The Mentalist)                      
AMERICAN IDOL outperformed the next highest rated network in the 8p hour by +108% in Adults 18-49 (7.5 vs. CBS’ 3.6) and +79% in Total Viewers (21.8 vs. 12.2 Mil

BONES
BONES posted a 3.3/9 among Adults 18-49,  down -15% from last week’s season high, but up +22% from its prior season average                          
Against significantly heavier original competition this week, BONES held up well and ranked #2 in the hour in A18-49.                
So far in the 9p hour, BONES is outperforming its prior season average with originals by +44% in A18-49 (3.6/9 vs. 2.5/8) and +18% in Total Viewers (10.9 vs. 9.2 Mil.)

Competition
ABC’s Winter Wipeout (2.5/7) was up +4% from last week but dropped -19% from its prior average at 8p (3.1/9), while Grey’s Anatomy (4.2/11) declined -2% from its last original. Private Practice (2.6/7) declined -4% from its last original and delivered its lowest original rating this season at 10p.

On CBS, The Big Bang Theory (4.3/12, up +2%), $#*! My Dad Says (2.8/7, up +22% from its series low), CSI (3.0/8, down -9%) and The Mentalist (2.8/8, flat) were all in line with their prior averages.

NBC’s all-comedy Thursday (2.3/6) posted its lowest rating to date, down-trending steadily through its third week on the air (2.8 > 2.5 > 2.3). Community (2.0/5) was down -9%, while Perfect Couples (1.4/4) declined -18% from last week.  The Office (3.7/9) declined -8% week over week, while week three of Parks & Recreation (2.5/6) dropped -17% and hit a season-low. 30 Rock (2.4/6) matched last week and its season average, while Outsourced at 10:30p (1.8/5) matched its season-low, down -5% week over week.
