'American Idol' Thursday is the one to beat, Fox winner

Airing a one-hour AMERICAN IDOL and an original BONES, FOX won its fourth consecutive in-season Thursday night among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers for the first time ever.  FOX dominated last night across all key demos and outperformed the next highest rated network (CBS) by +77% in Adults 18-49 and +22% in Total Viewers.
 
AMERICAN IDOL
Last night AMERICAN IDOL posted a 7.2/20 among Adults 18-49 with 21.7 Mil Total Viewers and retained 96% of last Thursday’s performance in A18-49 (vs. 7.5/20) and 99% in Total Viewers (vs. 21.9 Mil.)    
                   
In fact, versus last year, AMERICAN IDOL gained +3% in Total Viewers (21.7 vs. 21.0 Mil.) 


IDOL was the highest rated program of the night in key demos and beat the next highest rated programs in Adults 18-49 (Big Bang Theory and Grey’s Anatomy) by +85% and in Total Viewers (The Mentalist) by +48%

AMERICAN IDOL outperformed the next highest rated network in the 8p hour by +118% in A18-49 (7.2 vs. CBS’ 3.3) and +87% in Total Viewers (21.7 vs. CBS’ 11.6 Mil.)  
 
BONES                          
At 9p BONES posted a 3.3/9 among Adults 18-49, same as last week, and grew over last week in Adults 18-34 by +12% (2.8/8 vs. 2.5/7).
So far in the 9p hour, BONES is outperforming its prior season average with originals by +40% in A18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 2.5/8) and +15% in Total Viewers (10.7 vs. 9.3 Mil.)  
 
Competition

ABC’s Winter Wipeout delivered a season-low 2.2/6 at 8p, down -12% from last week. At 9p, Grey’s Anatomy (3.9/10) declined -9% and tied its season low, while Private Practice (2.7/7) was up +8% and on par with its recent performances at 10p. Season to date, Grey’s Anatomy (4.3/12) and Private Practice (2.9/8) are both down -19% versus their comparable original performances last year (5.3/14 and 3.6/10).

At 8p, CBS’s The Big Bang Theory dropped -9% and matched its original season low (3.9/11). $#*! My Dad Says followed with a 2.7/7, down -4%. At 9p, CSI (2.8/7) declined -7% and tied its series low for an original telecast, while The Mentalist (2.9/8) finished the night in line with its prior average.

NBC’s all-comedy Thursday (2.2/6) posted its lowest rating to date, continuing its steady decline through its fourth week on the air (2.8 > 2.5 > 2.3 > 2.2). Community opened the night with a 1.8/5 at 8p, down -10 and posting its lowest original rating since October. New comedy Perfect Couples followed with a 1.5/4 at 830p, up +7%. The Office (3.6/9) was on par at 9p, while week four of Parks & Recreation (2.6/7) gained +8 versus last week but dropped -10% from its prior performance at 9:30p (2.9/7). 30 Rock (2.3/6) was about average at 10p, and Outsourced closed out the night with a season-low 1.7/5 at 1030p, down -6% from last week.
