The concert tour by “American Idol” finalists is the latest major concert tour to be cut down this year. The live shows by the 10 finalists from the last Idol season on Fox will end two weeks early.

The new, revised schedule posted by Live Nation, which is promoting the tour, shows “CANCELLED” for shows in Omaha, Kansas City, Winnipeg, Toronto, Buffalo, Cleveland and Portland (ME). Eight others have date changes, so the tour will now wrap up on August 31st in Indianapolis.

Idol is hardly the first major tour to cancel dates this summer. The Jonas Brothers, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna and John Mayer are among major acts who have dropped some scheduled appearances. The tough economy is blamed for soft ticket sales.
