MIAMI SPRINGS, FLA. — On a late September night in 2004, iHeartMedia predecessor Clear Channel brought Spanish Contemporary programming to a Class C1 FM best heard in the vast Atlanta metropolitan area’s southern half.

The move was bold: It marked one of the first commitments to Hispanic programming as part of an initiative then led by veteran Spanish-language radio programmer Alfredo Alonso. The move was also highly successful, but a series of market shifts and changing music trends silenced the Latin Pop sounds by the end of 2009, after a programming swap with a sister station.

Now, it’s getting a big market bump, thanks in part to Enrique Santos.
