Spacial Audio and Ando Media announced a merger that will help accelerate the development of the streaming audio marketplace. Ando Media, working with over 6,500 affiliates, is a leader in audience measurement and ad-replacement for terrestrial broadcasters. Spacial Audio provides automation, ad-insertion and an array of other digital services to primarily pure-play webcasters. The combination of these two innovative companies will provide increased momentum to the rapidly expanding online audio marketplace.
Ando SVP Patrick Reynolds tells RBR: “This partnership now gives us a truer sense of the size and diversity of the online audio marketplace. We had a very good handle on how much audience the terrestrial streams were generating, and now (with Spacial) we get a much better feel for the pure-play online audio audience. Ultimately, that’s what advertisers what to know about the space— how many are there and how targetable are they?”
Spacial CTO and co-founder Louis Louw said, “We’ve been marching down a remarkably similar path to Ando, but our customers are not the same. That’s why this works so well. The merger is very additive. The complementary nature of our technologies will allow each company to offer expanded capabilities to our established customer bases.”
Both brands will continue to operate independently while the companies are deeply engaged in strategic planning to optimize resources and offerings in a merged entity.
