Another $1M in political giving tied to News Corporation

The US Chamber of Commerce is planning to spend up to $75M on behalf of Republican candidates in the 2010 midterms – and according to a new report, $1M of that came from Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation over the summer, adding to the $1M it gave to the Republican Governors Association.

According to Politico.com, the giving during this election cycle deviates from the usual media company pattern of donating much smaller amounts of cash to both parties more or less equally. In previous cycles, Politico notes that News Corp. also followed this pattern.

The Chamber is trying to keep a lid on its donor list and refused to confirm the report of the News Corp. donation, which Politico said came from a “source close to the company.”
