Another compendium of broadcast closings

SoldThe number of station transaction proposals being filed with the FCC seems to have picked up this year, and on the other end keys and cash are being exchanged. Here are notes on a few deals that have made it to the finish line.


* Marquee Broadcasting, headed by Brian and Patricia Lane, are now the proud owners of ABC/CW WMDT-TV Salisbury MD. George Kimball of Kozacko Media Services represented them, and Larry Patrick of Patrick Communications represented seller Delmarva Broadcasting, headed by Berl Brechner. The price: $9M.

* New York Broadband has closed on its $2.335M acquisition of KMMC-LP San Francisco, according to brokerage Kalil and Co. The seller was CNZ Communications. The station operates on Channel 40.

* KXCL-FM Rock Cree Park CO now belongs to Calvary Chapel Aurora. According to Jody McCoy of Media Services Group, who represented seller United States CP, LLC, the price was $400K. The station serves the Colorado Springs market.

* Curtis Media’s Eastern Airwaves has closed on two of its FM translator acquisitions. According to broker Bob Heymann of Media Services Group, the done deals include its $125K acquisition of W228CM Greensboro NC from Wake Forest University, and its $150K acquisition of W267AM Mocksville NC from Tri-Ad Family Network. According to Heymann, W267AM has the CP in hand to pull up stakes and head for Winston-Salem.
