Another deal for DirecTV, this time with Belo

Another disruption of service has been averted, as satellite MVPD DirecTV followed its agreement on retransmission compensation with Fox with another, this time involving broadcast television group Belo Inc. It involves 20 stations in 15 DMAs.

As per usual, terms of the agreement were not revealed, other than it is for the long term.

WFAA Dallas President/GM shared a statement with viewers that mirrored similar statements from other Belo execs in other markets.

Devlin wrote:
Dear valued WFAA viewer,
I am pleased to tell you WFAA and DirecTV have reached an agreement allowing the satellite provider to continue carrying the station’s broadcast signal in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Thank you for your patience during this process. We are grateful to those who called and/or wrote the station over the past few weeks. We received interesting and thoughtful comments, and appreciate that viewers would take the time to share them with us.
Respectfully
Michael Devlin
President and General Manager

A statement also came out from DirecTV, which said, “We have reached a long-term agreement with Belo which will allow customers to continue to enjoy their favorite channels and shows. These disputes should never involve viewers and we appreciate our customers’ patience as we worked to successfully complete this agreement.”
