Joining “You’ve Got” and “The One” on the recently relaunched AOL.com, “AOL Daybreak” is a morning news roundup that streams on the flagship AOL.com home page with a lighthearted take on recent headlines. It’s aiming directly at established network television morning content. The daily video piece, created in partnership with Electus, Ben Silverman’s next generation multimedia studio and operating business of IAC, is produced by television and web veterans and hosted by Lindsay Campbell.

AOL Daybreak is part of AOL’s strategy to create engaging, high-quality video experiences. The debut shows host Lindsay Campbell hitting the streets talking directly with people about what they want in a morning show. The episode includes the first in a series of surprise guests weighing in with expert advice.

“On any given day AOL.com has a larger audience than most television networks. We want to provide our audience with the most engaging, informative and entertaining content on the Internet and ‘AOL Daybreak’ delivers. It’s made specifically for the web, features high quality video, provides timely information and has a unique voice and personality in Lindsay Campbell,” said David Eun, President of AOL Media and Studios.

Campbell  is best known for her work hosting the humorous financial web series Wallstrip (acquired by CBS in 2007) and for co-creating the groundbreaking news and politics web series MobLogic shortly thereafter.

“I am looking forward to taking a fresh approach to the morning show format, informing and entertaining our audience in equal measure,” said Campbell. “AOL is essentially synonymous with the web for so many people and it’s a pleasure and a privilege to reach such a large audience, right out of the gate.”

“AOL Daybreak” is produced by network-TV vet, Diane Masciale in conjunction with Adam Eland and Jeff Marks. Masciale, Senior Executive Producer, last served as Executive Editor of ABC’s “Good Morning America” and Executive Producer in the ABC Long Form Unit. Previously, she was Acting Executive Producer and Senior Broadcast Producer at NBC’s “Today Show” as well as Senior Broadcast Producer at “Dateline NBC.” Masciale has won three national Emmy awards and has traveled the world chasing news.
